Transcending ordinary
Think of dust falling in a room, usually invisible the introduction of light at a particular angle renders it traceable, for a brief moment it comes into focus. Form, motion, volume, all visible before it fades. This illumination of the invisible is something i seek with a camera. The goal to produce images that merge the ‘facts’ with the ‘feeling’ of a space through the exploration of atmosphere as it converges with time and place.
In the words of Winston Churchill ‘we shape our buildings, thereafter they shape us.’
Our reality, the daily rhythms of our lives are woven within a framework of connection to our immediate and wider built environments, our homes, neighbourhoods, city. Our buildings matter. With curiosity and a camera i explore this influence.
How our buildings embody, express and influence life, time and connection is central to my work. This impact is the invisible thread that i seek to find within small yet meaningful illuminated moments, the suggestions of life beyond what is visible to the naked eye.
